This came about after he received supernatural vision at Troas to enter Macedonia to help them there. This is the first church established by Paul in Europe. Webbchurch in Europe (Acts 16:11-40). Perhaps Luke was left there to encourage the church (no “we- section” between Acts 16 and 20:4, where Paul passes through Philippi on his way to Jerusalem).
